Enable CEC mode to control your Soundbar with your Vizio remote
To control your Vizio Model: E420-A0 soundbar with your existing remote, you will need to plug one end of an HDMI cord into your HDMI ARC (Audio Relay Control) port on your TV and the other end into you soundbars HDMI out port.
From there you will need to enable CEC mode on your Vizio TV which is NOT located in the audio settings as one would assume. You need to enter the general settings menu, to do this press the MENU button on your remote and use the arrow keys to navigate to the settings option and press the OK button on the remote.
On the main settings menu press the down arrow key until you see CEC Settings and press the OK button on the remote.
On the CEC Settings menu, use the right or left arrow keys on the remote to change the CEC Function to "Enable" and change System Audio Control to "On".
Once you do this you should be all set. The sound bar will now turn on and off with your TV and you can control your soundbar volume with your TV remote. Also, when you adjust the volume the TV should display "Audio System" to the left of the audio level display.
